When I was a kid: I would watch my thoughts…

When I was a kid, I used to watch my thoughts very carefully. I used to think that there might be someone around me who could read my thoughts, so I would make sure that everything I thought was something I’d want someone to know. I would do this the most around my parents who seemed to have the ability to peer into my mind and KNOW when I did something wrong (although I now know that kids are extremely easy to read).

I remember being extremely careful about what I thought about when I was around people, juuuust in case the person I was next to COULD read my mind and would tell my parents what I was thinking…

I was one retarded child…

Troll Vending Machine is a Troll

Yesterday evening I was at the hospital with my girlfriend and her parents when my girlfriend asked her dad for money to go get something from the vending machine. I had to go to the bathroom, so I left at the same time. I did my business, went back to the room, and showed her dad some of the features of his phone. After about 10 minutes she still had not returned so I went to the vending machines to see what was going on.

I get there and find her sitting there with the most depressed look on her face pushing on the doors of the vending machine. Figuring that the chips were stuck I told her that I would buy her some sun chips at a gas station. But I had forgotten that it was her time of the month, and in near tears she told me that she wanted THOSE sunchips and didn’t want to waste her dad’s money. At that point, I DID remember that it was her time of the month, and told her to buy something on top of the chips and see if it would knock them down. The heaviest item above the chips was a Kit Kat bar, so she deposited the money and the Kit Kat fell and then got stuck on the sun chips.

Now there were two snacks stuck in the vending machine.

The thought of two snacks being trapped in the vending machine with no way to escape must have broken my poor girlfriends hormone fueled heart, because the depressed look on her face returned, and in a state of sheer sadness she gave up and walked back to the room. After prodding at the machine for a few more minutes, I went back to the room where she was telling her dad what happened. Being the adventurous man that he is, her dad decided that he was going to GET those snacks. Not for the money, but for the principal…and also because he was bored. So they left, and a few minutes later I hear hushed whispering from my girlfriend and my dad.

They get in the room and my girlfriend is hysterical. Apparently her dad tipped the machine and because I told her NOT to tip the machine because it could fall down on her and kill her she had a panick attack.

Through all of that, they only somehow managed to get ONLY the sun chips. The Kit Kat is still there…

Design Studies : Color (Purple)

Ever since I started designing websites, posters, flyers and the like my only real limitation has been that I’ll get to a certain part in my design and have no idea what to do. This is mostly ¬†because I only really design when I get a job, and I don’t get those often enough to keep myself sharp. So I decided that I’ll start doing exercises (studies) to work on my design skills.

Today’s Exercise is with the Color Purple:

Voldemort?

So this morning I had a really weird dream, I don’t remember all of it, but it involved me fighting Voldemort from Harry Potter.

The thing about this fight was that it was some kind of event, like a boxing match or something, and so I knew I had to fight him but we wouldn’t fight for a week. The weird part was that something or someone was trying to stop the fight from happening and so Voldemort and I teamed up to go fight off this entity.

I dunno what happened next, but next thing I know we are in this arena and the match starts. We do a lot of magic casting and stuff for what seems like hours and right when there’s about to be a turning point in this epic battle, my alarm clock goes off…

Stupid alarms. They ruin everything…

Ya finally figured it out eh?

Have you ever had one of those moments where someone FINALLY realizes something you’ve been telling them for weeks or even months and you’re like “YEAH, I’VE BEEN TELLING YOU THIS FOR WEEKS NOW!”?

Over the last few weeks I’ve had several of those moments, and it got me thinking: Why are some people like that? Set on their ways and they have to figure things out themselves, and there’s nothing that you can say to change how they think.

I used to be like that…ok well I’m still like that in some respects. I remember people telling me some of the errors in my logic and me just writing them off, but then after hitting my head against the same wall several times I’d be like “you know what, every time I hit my head against this wall it hurts maybe, if I don’t hit this wall I won’t hurt” and sure enough things got better for me in that department.

But why do some of us do that? Wouldn’t life be so much better if we listened to people who MIGHT have made the same mistake before?

Heh, I guess we all just have to make our own way lol

I hate ankhsvn

At the moment I really hate ankhsvn or whatever they call it.

I spent the majority of my XNA class wrestling with an error in which I could not update my solution to the latest version because “an unversioned directory of the same name already exists”. I did a little google searching to try and find a solution to the problem, and it seems that the only way to make it work was to force an update. Weeeeeelllll that option isn’t available in ankhsvn, so after several attempts at updating, cleaning the project, and modifying the culprit folder, I gave up and rechecked out the solution and then re-added all of my files.

All was well until I tried to run my game. Then I learned that several files had not been copied into the svn, even worse was that ankhsvn was having problems determining which files to commit to the server. So I had to go through and tell it which files belonged where on the server.

Finally, after wasting 3/4ths of the class, I finally got my game running and within 15 minutes I had gotten a nice piece of my parts done.

Awesome.

I could have been done by now…

Screw Ankhsvn…
